LargeInCharge Magazine was created in 2004 to be an outlet of expression for large-sized writers, models, artists, business owners, designers, authors, musicians, and many more, as well as a forum for the entire plus-sized community in which to participate without fear of judgment or intolerance because of their size. Although I myself am not a plus-sized person, I have a monthly column in the magazine called “The Skinny on Big Love,” wherein my wife and I share what life is like in a serious relationship with a younger, skinny man and a very plus-sized woman. I write about all the highs and lows, pleasures and pains, and most of all the added responsibility on my part of accommodating her specialized needs and making her feel comfortable, happy, and loved in a world that is all too often inhospitable and unaccommodating for her simply because of her size.

The magazine’s motto, “People of Size… Taking Control,” is literal. They showcase big people who are moving towards their dreams, whatever they may be, and encourage everyone to take control of their own destinies. The big-hearted and big-bodied are everywhere; we just have to have the courage to step out of the dark and into the light and make our dreams happen.

LargeInCharge also has a weekly radio show, which you can read more about on the above linked website or go directly to the radio show’s page here. Also be sure to check out the LargeInCharge Facebook Page!

The Young Turks is the largest online news network in the world, covering politics, pop culture and lifestyle.  The show is one of the Top 50 You Tube Partners, with over 30 million views a month and half a BILLION total video views on The Young Turks YouTube Channel. The Host, Cenk Uygur, created The Young Turks as the first daily online news show in the world, and is also a contributor on Huffington Post. The show also airs weeknights on Current TV at 6PM Central / 7PM Eastern. The Young Turks are largely responsible for my avid involvement and interest in politics today. I’ve been a member of the TYT Army, as it’s called, for years now, and it was something Cenk said in an interview that inspired me to make this website; “Don’t worry about starting perfect, just get started.” I highly encourage everyone to check out their website, or their main youtube channel.

Think Progress is a project of the Center for American Progress Action Fund. The Center for American Progress Action Fund is a nonpartisan organization. Through this blog, CAPAF seeks to provide a forum that advances progressive ideas and policies. Judd Legum serves as Editor-in-Chief of ThinkProgress.org. This site is one of my primary sources of news of progressive-interest. Their stories are short and concise, yet poignant, so if you ever need a quick news fix this place is great to get the top stories of the day!

The Brennan Society of Oklahoma is an organization of Oklahoma political activists that seek to promote progressive ideals and candidates for public office. Led by a nine-member Supreme Court of nine elected Brennan Society Justices, and inspired by the progressive views of the late Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court William J. Brennan, Jr., group members agree to support at least six of seven core progressive issues. These ideals and cherished values, staples among the progressive community, are; equal rights for the GLBT Community, protecting and preserving Social Security and Medicare, providing affordable, quality education for all people to compete with other developed and emerging economies, supporting workers’ right to organize and collectively bargain, supporting the implementation of the Affordable Care Act of 2010, supporting government funding for Stem Cell Research, and promoting tolerance, peace, and social harmony among all people. Be sure to check out their facebook group as well!

Oklahoma BBW, BHM, and Admirers is Oklahoma’s most active plus-size social group owned and operated by me and my wife Heidi. We are a non-profit group for men and women who consider themselves over-weight and for any person who is comfortable being around those of larger sizes. Our goal at group events is to provide a safe and friendly environment to socialize, make new friends, dance, laugh, and have fun without feeling as if someone is judging you, or something worse, due to your size or what you look like. Most of all we promote acceptance and respect of all people regardless of their size, lifestyle, religion, race, gender, orientation, or anything else. I was a member of the group for years prior to becoming an owner, and we have tons of fun every time we get together for anything because of our remarkably positive, warm, and welcoming atmosphere. I encourage everyone to check our main page for more information!
